Check out JW-Archive.org. This is a tough time for our elders, they need your support!
Fascinating reading the comments, seeing what the jws are thinking about what is going on in Australia.
There are many apostates on there arguing with them.
i'm not sure if this will be embedded or clickable, but this cnn video is a good one.. http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/07/28/australia-jehovah-witness-sex-abuse-hannigan-lklv.cnn.

has anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?
i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

I looked through Daily Express, Daily Mail, in news agents this morning, saw nothing about it. I get the Mirror every day. There has been nothing in the Mirror. I have also seen nothing on news in UK so far.
Maybe I may see something on evening news tonight.

has anyone else heard this said more frequently lately?
"even if it's true..." i have seen it said on here a few times in quotes from in family or friends responding the negative things about the org.. i heard it tuesday night again.
in a pioneer sisters comment.
a young sister in my husband's congregation who is the daughter of an elder has been reinstated in a matter of months.
whereas another sister in the same congregation has been disfellowshipped now for nearly two years!.
seems like it's who you know..

update - for those of you who read my last topic 'disfellowshipped at 18' i am so thankful for all the support and helpful comments i received.
it's amazing to know that despite how alone i may feel, so many of you have suffered the same way that i have.
i know that i can live happily without being one of jehovah's witnesses.
Asensier read your blog, you are very brave. Although meeting someone who you had never met before wasn't really the right thing to do. Fortunately for you he was who he said he was.
I am glad that his family have been so supportive to you. It is very sad that you have had to do what you did and leave your family, knowing that they would not speak to you again.
I hope that your future will be bright and that you will have a happy life and hopefully your family will come round. There is always hope.

i'm curious.
what do you know from your own experience and talking to other active jws?
i know from my own informal, non-scientific survey that most jws do not watch jw.tv.
My mum doesn't have the internet, so once a month she and a few other older sisters in her congregation go to a house where they have tea and cakes and a nice helping of Stephen Left and co.
They watch the monthly broadcast and any other new stuff.
My husband as far as I know has never watched it.
it was a simple question: isn't jesus my "mediator" if i put faith in him like the scriptures say?
the research to that answer, from the w79 4/1 p. 31, was mind blowing.
how dare they deny me a belief firmly stated in the scriptures?
1975, I was there in the years leading up to it. It was all anyone talked about and how there was no point striving for anything in this system (I didn't) because the end was coming in 1975.
I was a child at the time. I stayed for years after that because I was a child. It was when it was mentioned many times after that and people denied it. Especially when I brought up the subject to new ones who weren't there at the time. I argued with them. They said no they never said that. Other things also had bothered me, that only jws would survive Armageddon.
I stopped going years ago with these doubts. It was only in the past few years that I started researching on the internet and were my eyes opened!
my mum today was told that she urgently needs a pacemaker.
the doctor said he would push this through as quickly as possible.. my mum was more concerned about it clashing with her convention!
she told me she would rather leave the op till after the convention even though the doctor said it was urgent.

Yes it does. I wanted to say the assembly isn't important, but obviously as you say, it is to her. It is more important to her than the operation.
She hasn't actually been given the date yet for the operation but whatever it is, if it clashes she will change it. Hopefully it will all work out ok.
